Is Draftline really free?
The core extension is free, no account required — use Chrome's built-in on-device Gemini Nano at no cost when your device supports it. Bringing your own API key (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, OpenRouter, or any OpenAI-compatible provider) requires a one-time $19 BYOK license, and Premium (hosted GPT/Claude/Gemini without managing keys) requires a subscription — both need a free Google sign-in so we can track your plan across devices.
What does "local-first" mean?
All your data — settings, prompts, personas, and API keys — is stored in Chrome's local storage on your device. Draftline has no servers, no account system, and no analytics. Generation requests go straight from your browser to the model provider you choose.
What is a persona?
A persona is your saved voice: tone rules, do/don't guidance, and up to three writing samples. When active, every rewrite is guided by it so results sound like you instead of a generic AI.
Which sites does it work on?
Draftline works in standard text fields, contenteditable editors, and same-origin iframes across the web — email, CMSs, forums, social sites. Google Docs' canvas editor is not supported in v1, and we say so up front rather than half-working.
Do you see my API keys or my text?
No. Keys are stored only on your device and are never included in backups or sync. Your text goes directly to the provider you selected — or nowhere at all if you use on-device Gemini Nano.
Does it work in other browsers?
Draftline is Chrome-only in v1 (Manifest V3). Chromium-based browsers may work but aren't officially tested.
